Why can’t I rent a property today?

We have been hard at work finalizing all licensing and inspections required by the City of Des Moines and Polk County. Once those elements are completed, we’ll be ready to welcome guests. However, if you submit a date inquiry, you’ll be the first to know when booking is available.

What are your rates?

Like a hotel, our rates will vary based activities in the area and number of guests. We promise they will be cost-effective, especially for larger groups and longer stays. Note that a two-night minimum stay will be required for all reservations.

Are you affiliated with the Iowa State Fairgrounds?

No. SGM Rentals is in no way affiliated with the Iowa State Fairgrounds or its entities.

Will you have availability during the fair?

Not at this time. We are an agriculture family and will be reserving both properties for family members exhibiting during the Iowa State Fair and Polk County Fair.

How does the shared driveway work?

Both The Fair House and The Fair Lodge have private driveways that connect to a gravel driveway behind The Fair House. If each property is rented individually, we ask that only private driveways are used, or guests park behind each house in the backyard. If both properties are rented by the same group, the circular driveway can be utilized.

Will you allow animals and trailers?

No. Only service animals will be allowed in/on the properties and trailer storage is not permitted.

What’s the neighborhood like?

The properties are located in a primarily owner-occupied dead end street that borders the Iowa State Fair campgrounds. It is a quiet area with families, and we ask that all guests drive slowly and respect the neighbors by keeping noise to a minimum.
